The Northwest Edmonton community of Griesbach holds a truly unique history in that it was first developed as a Canadian Forces Base (CFB Griesbach) in the early 1950s. The area remained home to military personal and their families until the early 2000s, when the army base was relocated north of the city to Sturgeon County.

Despite its established status, boasting mature trees and plenty of “old neighbourhood” charm, residential development didn’t begin in this Castle Downs community until the early 1990s – when the former military land was transferred to the Canada Lands Company.
