About Stony Plain

Stony Plain is a vibrant community situated in Parkland County, just 17 kilometres west of Edmonton. First established in the late 1800s by settlers Alex McNabb and John McPherson, the name “Stony Plain” has two possible origins: the indigenous Stony peoples who inhabited the area or from geologists taking note of the number of boulders scattered throughout the region.
