Glenwood is an older community located in established West Edmonton. With roots dating back to the early 1900s, the neighbourhood was once part the former Town of Jasper Place. When the town amalgamated with the greater City of Edmonton in 1964, Glenwood absorbed the adjoining community of Westlawn – making it one of the largest neighbourhoods in the city.

Most residential development in Glenwood took place during the 1950s and 1960s, when the neighbourhood consisted almost entirely of single-family homes. Commuting From West Edmonton

Glenwood is defined by 170th Street to the west, Stony Plain Road to the north, 156th Street to the east and 95th Ave to the south. Stony Plain Road provides access to the downtown core and the west Anthony Henday, while 170th Street transects Yellowhead Highway to the north and Whitemud Drive to the south. Transit opportunities are also abundant along these two major thoroughfares, with several stops and routes operating throughout the area.

The development of the West Valley LRT line will also see LRT service extended to several communities directly south of Glenwood.
