Parkview hosts a centrally located shopping centre (Valleyview Shopping Centre) featuring a local IGA grocery store (a staple of the neighbourhood), various services and the highly popular Rebel Food and Drink restaurant.

Aptly named, Parkview offers residents no shortage of parks, open green spaces and outdoor recreation.

A centrally located park space housing the local community league can be found within the heart of the neighbourhood. This area features a large community rink, playground, basketball court and soccer fields shared with a local school. The Parkview Community League, which hosts numerous family-friendly events and programs including soccer, karate, ladies’ sports nights and more, remains a favourite among locals.

The river valley also borders Parkview’s entire east end, giving residents access to a broad network of walking trails and cycling paths as well as several parks, including Hawrelak Park, MacKinnon Ravine Park, Buena Vista and Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park.

An Excellent Location

Parkview is bordered by 149th Street to the west, scenic Valley View Drive to the north and east and 87th Ave to the south. 149th Street running north/south provides residents streamlined access to several major thoroughfares, including Whitemud Drive, Stony Plain Road (13-minutes to downtown Edmonton) and the Yellowhead Highway.

87th Ave (east/west) connects with 170th and 178th Street (West Edmonton Mall) and the west Anthony Henday as well as 142nd street. 142nd Street transects the neighbourhood of Parkview proper and (like 149th Street) runs north to Stony Plain Road and the Yellowhead.

While Parkview remains primarily car-reliant, several bus routes operate in and around the community. The area is also extremely cyclist-friendly.

Did you know? Parkview’s flat terrain combined with the river valley’s nearby trail systems make it an ideal community for cycling. Both Edmonton’s city centre, the University of Alberta and West Edmonton Mall can be reached in less than half an hour by bike.
