Edmontonians renamed the Capital Ex festival to K-Days
Edmonton’s year-round festivals and events are known throughout the province, from the magical Metropolis Winter Festival to the talented Street Performers. Edmontonians are proud of our events, which unite members of our vibrant community in a cultural environment.
Our classic summer event is Capital Ex. Originally known as Klondike Days, this is Edmonton’s oldest festival. In 2006, Klondike Days re-branded to Capital Ex. Unfortunately, the name change was not well received. So, six years later Northlands launched the Name Your Fair contest. Over 50,000 citizens voted and in July of 2012, K-Days was elected as the new name.
Despite the identity crisis, the spirit of our vintage fair has remained strong. Our annual festival has always delivered fun for the whole family and excellent performance artists. Edmontonians attend because of the heart-pumping rides, unique carnival food, or to shop at the craft shows. Capital Ex or K-Days: Po-tay-toe, Po-tah-toe…the name doesn’t matter, what’s most important is how the festival makes us feel and the joy we experience with friends and family. So, mark your calendars because in 2013, K-Days will run from July 19th – 28th!
It is with the help of great events, like K-Days that Edmonton earned the title of Festival City. Living in Edmonton gives you instant access to wonderful fairs and great entertainment, all in a beautiful river city. For more information on K-Days visit their website.
